Fundraising and Community

Cheney is proud to be a large, bustling, and diverse comprehensive school. You entrust us with your children, and in return, we  ensure they feel welcome, supported, and confident to think for themselves and act for others. We want all our students to leave with opportunities that they might not otherwise have had, both in the classroom and outside it. 

One of the virtues of a true comprehensive school is that all sections of society learn together, and understand that we are stronger as a community. This means that some of our students need help today, so they can give back tomorrow; other families are in a position to lend a hand now and know that they are part of a generous society. We deeply value our place in the local community and take our responsibility seriously.

Opening Our Doors: Access All Areas

With this in mind, we are going to open our doors to you. We want to show you what goes on behind the school gates and to help you share actively in your child’s journey with us.

By welcoming you into Cheney School, we want to remove some of the mystery. We are offering opportunities for you to come into school during the working day, and also to get involved with some of our clubs and activities. This increased community engagement is vital for student wellbeing and success, as it builds a powerful support network around them.

Enrichment for all

Part of the Cheney School ethos is to ensure equal opportunities for all our students.  We will continue to lobby for the budget to cover basic needs.  However, over and above this we rely on the generosity of our community to allow all our students to participate fully in all our activities, such as sport, drama, music or educational trips.
