Cheney Creative Arts
The Creative Arts subjects, Arts, Drama and Music, are often the first things to come under pressure when school budgets are squeezed. Here at Cheney School we value them just as much as the core subjects. Our art shows are outstanding and we produce some of the highest grades in the County, and our school shows are a joy to watch and a wonderful participation experience for students across the full spectrum of our diverse school.
We strive to ensure the Creative Arts are accessible to all our students both in the classroom and through our list of extracurricular activities. We won't let lack of access to materials, previous experience or too high prices for additional lessons be a barrier to any students. We do this by fundraising for programmes such as our music scholarship programme, launched in 2025, and materials and props for art and drama. This ensures every student has the opportunity to benefit from our dedicated department.
What could your donation to the Creative Arts department do?
£5 will buy sheet music
£15 per month will purchase props for our theatrical performances
£30 per month will allow us to upgrade the display boards for our art shows
£50 per month will fund 1 student through the music scholarship for a year
Aspirational target, £50 000 would fund a new and much needed lighting system in the Assembly Hall. This would be used for all our shows, performances and other live events. We could also hire out this venue as a working performance hall and raise funds for the school.
