Greening Cheney
5 years ago Cheney Friends embarked on an ambitious project; Greening Cheney. The objective was to transform the hard surface playground into a greener space, making a more enjoyable, relaxing, functional and eco-friendly space for all to enjoy.
The project was enormous and had to be split into 4 phases. Over the past 5 years Cheney Friends have successfully completed phases 1 and 2 with tremendous results and are now moving onto phase 3.
Take a look at the work completed so far and our plans for phases 3 and 4
We are extremely grateful for every donation and, on behalf of the Cheney community, we thank you for your generosity. By supporting the Greening Cheney initiative, you are helping to transform the urban courtyards of our school into pleasant, green spaces, which encourage friendship, wildlife and wellbeing. These will be enjoyed by current and future generations of Cheney students, staff, carers and parents.
How could your donation to Greening Cheney help?
£5 will purchase replacement hose and tap fittings
£15 will help to add some colour to the school site with flowering bulbs
£30 per month would purchase a hedge or tree pack, compost and weed matting
£50 could purchase a semi-mature tree
If you'd like to support our aspirational target, we're aiming to raise £80,000 to complete phase 4 of the Greening Cheney project - the installation of a new rain garden in Ford Block courtyard. This will add seating and beauty, whilst also reducing flooding on site!
