On Saturday 10th May, Zebedee and Alexander in Year 7 took part in the British Orienteering Long Distance Championships which were held in a forest in the Lake District. There were about 1200 competitors in total and the courses were technically hard as well as physically challenging, as befits a major event. In their age group, both boys had very good runs finishing fourth, Zebedee, and fifth, Alexander.
Before Easter, Alexander came second in the British Middle Distance Championships, while Zebedee was second in the Southern Championships. Congratulations both!
They are both members of North Gloucestershire Orienteering Club as well as having been invited last year to train with the South West Junior Orienteering Squad.

Orienteering is an exciting outdoor adventure sport that exercises mind and body. The aim is to navigate between checkpoints or controls marked on a special orienteering map. There is no set route so the skill and fun come from trying to find the best way to go! In competitive orienteering, the challenge is to complete the course in the quickest time.
