Cheney School A Level and BTEC Results 2025

Once again, we are delighted with the results our wonderful students have achieved this year. We want to congratulate them for all their hard work over the years, and say thank you to both their families and the Cheney staff who have supported them at school. 

The most important thing is the destinations that our students go on to, and again we have many going on to excellent universities, mostly to their first choice institution. We also have a number of students going on to employment or apprenticeships in the areas of their choice.

60% of our A Level grades are B or over, with almost a third of grades at A or A*. More important than the absolute grades is the value-added score, which at +0.39 is over a third of a grade better than the national average in each exam. The official data won’t be out for some time, but this kind of value-added score is likely to put Cheney in the top 5% of schools in the country for progress.

Some students who achieved particularly highly in their exams are:

• Sam: 4 A* in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and has a place to read Maths at Oxford.

• Alice: 3A* in Biology, Chemistry and History, together with an A in the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ); Biological Sciences at the University of Edinburgh.

• Agatha: 3A* in Art, Biology and History; Human, Social, and Political Sciences at Cambridge.

• El: 3 A* in Chemistry, Biology and Maths, an A in Further Maths, and an A* in the EPQ; Medicine at Cambridge.

• Jen: 2A* in Maths and Chemistry, and an A in English Literature; Chemistry at the University of Manchester.

• Ellie: 2 A* in Art and Biology, and an A in Maths, and A* in EPQ; Biological Sciences at UCL.

• Rhiane: 2 Distinction* in BTEC double Applied Science and Distinction in BTEC Health and Social Care; Biomedical Science at the University of Westminster.

• Gina: A* in English Literature and A in Latin and History; Classics at Oxford.

• Peter: 3A in History, Latin, and Politics, and an A* in EPQ; History at Cambridge.

• Oakley: Distinction* in BTEC Applied Science, Distinction in BTEC Sport and B in Psychology A Level; Accounting and Finance at Portsmouth University.

• Michael: Distinction Merit in BTEC double Applied Science and a C in Economics; Finance Apprenticeship with Civil Nuclear Constabulary at Culham HQ
