Dr Lissette Rubio Medoros visits Cheney from Cuba
BackLast week members of the National Education Union (NEU) hosted three guests from Cuba. For many years, the NEU has worked in solidarity with our sister union, SNTECD (Cuba’s National Union of Education, Science and Sport Workers) and the UK-based Cuban Solidarity Campaign (CSC). One of these Cuban guests was Dr Lissette Rubio Medoros who is professor at the University of Pedagogical Sciences in Havana, Cuba. She visited Cheney School on Thursday 13th November and Friday 14th November.

During her time at Cheney, Lissette had a guided tour around school, met with Mr Blencowe and had an in depth look at Cheney’s excellent alternative provision, spoke at length to Headteacher Rob Pavey about Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support, took questions from A-level students in one of Mr Taberer’s Politics lessons, and conversed in Spanish in one of Dr Bown’s Spanish lessons.
