On Tuesday 24th February, a Cheney team made up of Josiah and William (Year 8) and Hubert and Peter (Year 9) travelled to Matthew Arnold School to compete in the UKMT Team Maths Challenge Regional Final.

The competition consists of four challenging rounds designed to test students’ mathematical dexterity, teamwork and communication skills. After a slightly disappointing performance in Round Two (the Shuttle), the team responded brilliantly with an almost perfect score in Round Three (the Crossnumber). They finished the day in style, achieving maximum points in the Relay round.

These impressive performances secured a very respectable 6th place out of 21 competing schools.

It was a pleasure to spend the day with the students, who were delighted to enjoy a full day off timetable immersed in Mathematics. They represented the school superbly throughout — well done, and thank you for being such excellent ambassadors for Cheney School!
