Cheney wins the regional heat of the Senior National Reading Champions Quiz!

On Tuesday 10th March, a team of four avid Cheney readers congregated in BR28 to join the online regional heat of the Senior National Reading Champions Quiz.

This is a national quiz that is aimed at encouraging reading for students aged 11-14. We have never entered a team before and we didn’t know what to expect—from cobbling together our mascots out of tennis balls to uncertainty about how we would fare against 27 more seasoned teams (including Eton) from across the South East. 

We needn’t have worried! Our team of three students from year 8 and one from year 9, pictured below, absolutely smashed it, scoring an amazing 62 points out of a possible 75! And, really excitingly, we won! 

The team has now qualified for the national final in London on 20th May. 

I am one very proud librarian and I’m still buzzing. Just brilliant! Hurrah!
