How we're coping with the extreme temperatures

At Cheney, we're avoiding the hottest part of the day, by shortening our lessons and by moving the start of lessons forward.
The gardens have come into their own with cool shade (thank you to our PTA, Cheney Friends for making this possible), the outdoor classrooms with whiteboards and log seats are in full use under the trees on the edge of the school grounds, and the site team have installed extra fans, extra water points and three misters around the playgrounds. Mr Pavey was making sure students had sun cream, and ice lollies were offered to staff on duty at breaktimes.
Students and staff have coped very well with the uncomfortable conditions, and attendance has actually improved this week!
