Announcing the Cheney Choice Award 2026 Shortlist!
We are thrilled to reveal the shortlists for the 2026 Cheney Choice Award. The Cheney Choice Award is now in its sixth year and the shortlist is a selection of four books for each year group, selected by Mrs Fenton. Each year, the Cheney Choice shortlist titles are amongst the top loaned books for each year group and the books are selected on the basis of readability, diversity and a broad appeal for as many students as possible.
This year’s shortlisted titles can be found below:
Cheney Choice Award 2026 Shortlist - Year 7
Students will study the books in their English and library lessons and there will be a school-wide vote for each year’s favourite book in term 4. There are lots of rewards and recognition for students who read and/or review the books.
There will be at least eight copies of the books for students to borrow. Should you wish to buy more copies for the school, then please head to the Cheney fundraising page for further information.
