The Library

Walking into the library is like walking into a big hug, the really nice ones you can only get from a warm and welcoming place full of books. However, there is more to Cheney’s Library than books. It has a gentle bubble of activity that starts from the moment the doors open at 8am with students coming in for a quiet place to do some homework, choose a book, meet up with friends or have some alone time.

Cheney is proud of its vibrant reading culture and the library is the reading hub of the school. We run regular author events and organise the annual Cheney Choice book awards, which feature a shortlist of books tailored to the specific tastes of Cheney readers. There is a real appetite amongst our students for new and exciting titles and stock replacements are always needed.

Jill and Liberty are always on hand with recommendations and to ensure it remains a calm and safe space, and a refuge from the busy school environment.

How could your donation to the library help?

£5 purchases one paperback fiction book

£15 purchases a hardback non fiction book, tailored to students’ curriculum work

£30 per month would fund an author event and a signed book for a student who might not be able to afford to buy one, offering a fantastic enrichment activity for a large group of students.

£50 could purchase a set of popular Manga titles, beloved by reluctant readers

If you'd like to support our aspirational target, £3,000 would fund new tables and chairs!

To donate to the Library fund use the donation form below. If you want your donation to go to a specific area please note this in the 'any other comments' box at the bottom.
