Thank you and good luck to our Year 11 students

Year 11 teddy made by our Head of Design & Technology Ms BeerOur Year 11s have now finished their exams (the last exam was Wednesday 18th June) and we wish them all the best for a fantastic summer, after a long (and hot) exam season!

The 2020-2025 year group started secondary school wearing face masks,  learning in ‘bubbles’ of students due to the covid-19 pandemic, and then went onto Google classroom as the second lockdown came 4 months later. They are also Mr Pavey’s first year group at Cheney. 5 years later, they’ve had a lot to celebrate in the past few weeks, from Leaver’s Day on Friday 13th June, Prom on Friday 20th June and a trip to Thorpe Park last Monday!

We thought we would share some photos from these celebratory events and thank them for being such a fantastic year group - just ask them about their Leavers Assembly. It really was a treat - with an opening performance from ‘Odette’, a year 11 band, an impromptu dance with boys coming down to the stage to reenact a moment caught on video years earlier(!), a tutor group press up challenge, and of course ‘Guess Who’ that had everyone laughing as the students looked back at their younger selves! A group of students presented a video they had put together, looking back at memories of covid, (the chair exercises!), their experience at Cheney and who they would like to thank. As spoken by Siri:

“Despite a tricky relationship with the uniform, Cheney will always be a part of us and we’re so grateful for everything it has brought us and taught us!”

Thanking all of our Year 11s in return - you’re amazing! The good news is we will see a lot of them back at Sixth Form in September.

The Year 11 team that went on the journey with them must also be hugely thanked: Mr Stacey, Miss Clear, Miss Kremnizer and Miss Higgins.
