As you might know, 40 year 8s had the opportunity to develop our knowledge of World War I in Belgium. We travelled with our amazing teachers, coach driver and tour guide John. We went to plenty of commonwealth and German War graves and memorials, multiple museums showing us what life was like in the trenches, and craters created by bombs which were massive.

1000003542As well as all this we went to the last post memorial at Menin Gate in Ypres near our hostel where Marina and Junior lay a wreath on behalf of Cheney school. The last post memorial at Menin Gate has been going on every night since 1927 and it only stopped for World War II, so it was amazing to have the opportunity to take part.

We would like to add a massive shout-out to the teachers who took us, Ms Mehta, Ms Hutson, Mr Twycross and Mr Taberer; our coach driver and John the tour guide. Thank you so much.
