On Tuesday the 14th April, a group of sixth form Economics students, along with a few members of staff, travelled down to London to visit the Bank of England.

After a lengthy coach ride, the group did not hesitate to explore the museum, located in the heart of London’s historic financial district.
During this trip, students learnt about the history of money in Britain, from early coins to modern banknotes, unravelling the way financial systems work. They discovered how the Bank of England helps keep the economy stable, allowing the students to apply their classroom learning to the real world. Activities such as spotting a counterfeit note from a real one, to lifting a real gold bar, made the experience more educational and enjoyable.

Lunchtime came around, giving students the chance to explore the bustling streets of London, and soaking in the sun on this day. About an hour later, it was time to head back to Cheney. Students went home with a better understanding of the fascinating world of money, deepening their understanding of economics!
