After three months of reading, the results for this year’s Cheney Choice Award are in. All students had a chance to vote for their favourite book out of a shortlist of four titles for each year group.

Congratulations to our winning authors - the winners are as follows:

  • Year 7 - The Double Life of Ted Amos by Simon James Green

  • Year 8 - King of Nothing by Nathanael Lessore

  • Year 9 - The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson

  • Year 10/11 - Glasgow Boys by Margaret McDonald

Engagement for this year’s award has been the best yet, with well over 600 students trying at least one of the books, with many students reading all four recommended books for their year. An amazing 30,000 house points have been issued to students across the school and all the shortlisted books are now Cheney classic reads that students will discover in further years. Work is now underway to produce the shortlists for 2027, which will be announced in January next year.
