Trip to Rouen, France
BackOn 23rd March, 30 Cheney students from years 9 and 10 joined Mr Terry, Ms Lebari and Mme Pearce on a trip to Rouen in Upper Normandy, France. The students stayed in host families and enjoyed an immersive experience, lots of delicious food and many chances to practise their French. The students had language lessons in the morning and then activities in the afternoon including a tour of Rouen, a visit to the Jeanne d’Arc museum and some free time in the town for shopping and sightseeing.
On Wednesday afternoon we visited the beautiful coastal town of Honfleur where the students took part in a photography competition and interviewed local people in French. Lots of French was spoken and lots of prizes won!
On Thursday we visited a sweet factory where the students had the chance to make their own regional specialities with marshmallows, chocolate and apple candy rock.

We had a lovely trip to Rouen, despite a few of our number falling sick but we made it home to Cheney on Friday evening having had a smooth journey and enjoying the ‘Cheney Trip Awards’ in which prizes were awarded for the students’ effort in the tasks and for their excellent French speaking skills.
